Eclipse Machine Co

Rothwell motorcycles were produced in 1903 by the Eclipse Machine Co of Oldham in Lancashire.

The company had been established in 1872, and in 1903 they produced a typical primitive with a small engine hung inclined from a bicycle frame downtube. It had belt drive and unbraced cycle forks.

The illustration is very similar to that of the 1903 Royal George, which is listed as having a Minerva engine.

The machine was no more than a bicycle with an engine and was therefore very short lived.
