Alphonse Thomann Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque

Made in France from 1908 to 1923, the firm built two-strokes of 98cc to 173cc. Their logo features elephants.

The firm also built bicycles as early as 1900, and were situated in Puteaux. A. Leducq won the Tour de France on one of their bicycles in 1927.

Some sources say that the Alphonse Thomann brand is unrelated to the Thomann of Gentil et Cie, others that Alphonse Thomann sold his brand to Edmond Gentil in 1911 and then began another firm with a similar name, before being prevented from using it by the courts.
