These machines were produced in 1912 by Arthur Richardson, of l85 Shaftesbury Crescent, Derby.
They were typical of the period, and were powered by a 5 h.p. Precision engine mounted in a conventional frame with Druid forks, and belt drive to a three-speed Armstrong gear in the rear hub that also contained the multi-plate clutch.
It was a rare marque and only one machine has survived.
The Crescent cyclecar is unrelated.

Bonhams sold the machine in Oct 2007 and notes that "this machine was originally manufactured by one Arthur Richardson, of l85 Shaftesbury Crescent (from whence the name derives) in Derby, and that the original registration number was from an old Derby series. It is believed that Arthur Richardson was a cycle maker, previously with branches in Princes Street and Newland Street, Northampton, although that has not been confirmed.".
