An advertisement appeared in the "Automobile and Cycle Trade Journal" offering engines for homebuilt motorcycles. By April complete motorcycles were available, and a dozen were built by the end of the year, three of which were sold by Carl H. Lang of Chicago, the first Harley-Davidson dealer.
