Dennis Poore dies in London at 70. Poore headed the company which had owned Norton, James, AJS, Matchless and Francis-Barnett, and later the BSA Group along with Norton-Villiers-Triumph (NVT). He closed the Meriden Triumph factory at enormous cost to the workers, and the British motorcycle industry collapsed.
