William Moorehouse, while travelling at speed whilst testing a motorcycle on New Brighton Beach in Christchurch New Zealand, collided with an eight year old boy who ran into his path. The boy died.
Moorehouse, of Maori heritage, became the first winner of the Victoria Cross for aerial gallantry during WWI.

    March 22nd, 1981

Alfred Robert "Fearless Bob" Foster dies. A champion British racer, the peak of his memorable career was defeating Norton in the 1950 350cc Grand Prix, securing a World Championship for himself and a Manufacturers Championship for Velocette.
