The first Isle of Man TT is held. The singles class was won by Charlie Collier on a Matchless and the twin-cylinder class by Rem Fowler on a Norton.
David Jefferies is killed during practice for the 2003 Isle of Man TT. Jeffries was a four-time winner of the North West 200 and winner of the 2002 Isle of Man Senior TT.
