Edwin Perks and Frank Birch, who had recently left Humber, sell their design of a 222cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine to George Singer.
Singer went on to develop a range of motorcycles which included 346cc two strokes and side-valve models of 299cc and 535cc. Motorcycle production ceased with the outbreak of WWI.

Hawker began his short but illustrious career building motorcycles in Australia. His name is commemorated in the names of his company's products including the Hawker Hurricane which shot down 55 per cent of all enemy aircraft destroyed during the Battle of Britain.
