H-D's first export representative for Africa, Alfred Rich Child, arrives in Tokyo. Via a circuitous and somewhat nefarious route, by 1931 H-D machines were built in Japan.

Ing Zoller began building split-single two-strokes. This engine enabled DKW to dominate the Lightweight and Junior classes until 1939.

Guglielmo Sandri wins Grand Prix at Giardini Margherita, Bologna on a Moto Guzzi 250.

Sandri broke six world records in 1939, and was also admired as a concert singer. During the war he fought with the resistance.
