Cal Rayborn II wins the AMA Grand National at Laguna Seca on an XR-750. Rayborn won 11 AMA nationals during his relatively short seven-year professional racing career. He was inducted in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999.
July 23rd, 1972 Bob Gill jumps 130 feet without a landing ramp at Lakeland International Speedway in Memphis, Tennessee. His front wheel collapsed and he slid an estimated 125 feet on the pavement.
