Kenny Roberts wins the 1979 500cc British Grand Prix at Silverstone in one of the closest races in Grand Prix history.
Philip S. Zanghi II found guilty of 23 counts of securities fraud, tax evasion and money laundering. He swindled investors from as far away as Sweden, Greece and Australia in a conjob which promised to rebuild the Indian marque. The victims included several members of his own family. On December 17, 1997 Zanghi was sentenced to 7½ years, a fraction of the possible maximum sentence of 221 years. He had previously spent a year in an Italian prison.
