After years of complaints over safety concerns Cigel circuit in Czechoslovakia is closed. Car racing had ended in 1969 after a driver crashed injuring 32 spectators.
The 1977 British motorcycle Grand Prix is held at Silverstone Circuit. Previously the event was held on the Isle of Man which had had been boycotted by several top riders due to safety concerns.
