Svend Heiberg, who later received masters degrees from Yale and Danish universities, and his friend Aksel Svane who went on to become Governor of Greenland, began their trip around the world studying forestry aboard a 1922 Harley-Davidson JD.

Geoff Duke wins the 1951 350cc Nations Grand Prix at Monza on a Norton. He finished the season with 5 wins and 40 points - Bill Dolan was his closest rival with 19 points.
In 1953 Duke was awarded the Order of the British Empire.
