A friend of mine was given a Motobecane and I’m trying to find some help for him. It’s missing engine, gas tank, and seat. The i.d. plate says Motobecane D45 Machine no 412805 moteur 414003. It has a springer front suspension but does not have rear swing arm suspension that I see in photos. I can’t find any pictures that have the combination of features that it has. I’m guessing that maybe its early D45. I’d appreciate help identifying the bike and looking into locating an appropriate engine. My friend would like to restore the bike.

    Thanks, Peter

I take it it’s not the same as the plunger model of 1945, then?

Right, The rear suspension is a plunger, but the front is a springer. Thanks for the response though.

Hold everything, I looked at the bike today and it doesn’t have any rear suspension it’s rigid. I guess it’s all in the saddle. The front is definitely a springer.

    Thanks, Peter
