Baumi Motorcycle Engines

A Brief History of the Marque

1920-1925 Baugesellschaft Michelsohn, Baumi, Minden

The construction company Michelsohn from Minden (BAUMI) had since the early 20s built engines primarily for agricultural machinery. Developed by BAUMI two-stroke 249 cc engine with 3 hp and was mainly used by motorcycle manufacturers and garment makers based in the Bielefeld area including HOCO and Denia in Minden, and Mammut in Bielefeld. Having had to close down their businesses in the inflation years, like many other motorcycle manufacturers the BAUMI two-stroke disappeared from the market.
