Kynast Mopeds and Scooters

A Brief History of the Marque

Kynast supplied mopeds to the ZEG group who branded them "Pegasus", and also to Karstadt of Essen who branded them as "Condor".

...When Otto Kynast died as a senior partner in 1963, the company remained family-owned through his son Werner and grandson Hanns Kynast. With over 1,000 employees, it had developed into the largest employer in Quakenbrück and the region. In 1966, the production of precision steel tubes was started. On August 21, 1968, a major fire destroyed the entire warehouse and parts of production; the reconstruction took place in the same year. As a fourth product group, in 1970 lawnmowers and garden care equipment were added, and in 1974 the production of scooters and mopeds began. With its own pipe plant, powder coating and electroplating facilities, the company had a very high level of vertical integration.
