Owus Motorcycles

A brief history of the marque

Otto Wittkopf und Sohn, Nuremberg, 1927

Considered by some a masterpiece, only one example was built by Otto's son Willi as a project for his Master Craftsman's certificate. Fitted with a 249cc OHV 4.5 PS single cylinder engine of his own manufacture with bore & stroke 65x75mm, weight 97kg.

Wittkopf lived in a house adjacent to the Victoria factory from which he obtained many components, and it is believed that he based his design on Victoria KR3.

The Owus machine was discovered in the 1990s by Gustav Franke, who restored it. It is displayed at the Museum Industriekultur in Nürnberg.
