Walcher Sidecars

Manufactured by Gerhard Walcher of Esslingen from 1985 to 1995. A serious sidecar racing contender in the 1980s (Paris-Dakar, etc), he remained active in the business until 2018.

The majoritiy of the sidecar outfits built were based on Yamaha SR 500 and XT 500 singles. These had re-enforced frames and often an Earles-style leading link front end. Some had 15" wheels, and Squire ST2 and Velorex 700 sidecars were among those employed for the conversions.

Peter Cassens continued the Walcher conversion concept for several years. Initially his were all but identical to the originals.

There are numerous mentions of the Walcher at sr500.de
