The 40th International Six Days Trial began on the Isle of Man. British teams were unimpressed by their appalling lack of support; crews of 40 attended some European riders.

Alain Barbaroux died. He built a racing machine powered by a 500cc twin-cylinder engine based on the Bultaco, fitted to a Norton Manx frame, in the Concorde workshops where he was employed. He was French National 500cc Champion in 1964.
