Basigli Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque

Remigio Basigli of Ravenna, an athlete, designed and built a new type of rotary engine in 1952. Using the Wankel concept, the RBR 125cc engine weighed only 13kg and was exhibited at the 1960 Milan Show in a new drive to find backing for production, without success.

The NSU Wankel project began in around the same time, but it is believed that the Basigli was demonstrated running well before the NSU.
