Lario Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Italian Marque

Little information about this machine is available other than that on the 7th July 1901 a Como rider nicknamed Trottapian riding a motorized Werner competed on the cycling track in Cernobbio against the riders Pusterla Rosselli, Montu on De Dion and Mazzoleni on a Carcano.

The motorcycles were built by the brothers Franchini at Lario, Como on the Lungo Lario di Ponente from 1900-1909.

One of the Franchini brothers, Paolo, in 1900 was the first to own and use a motorcycle in Como: a Werner 1 HP model.

Paolo Franchini, along with a dozen motorcycle enthusiasts founded the Como Motorcycle Club on June 14, 1903.
