Maybach Motor Bicycles

A Brief History of the Marque

Manufactured by Wilhelm Maybach who submitted his patent some six months later than that of Bánki. His first tricycle appeared in 1886.

The firm is credited with producing the first V-Twin in 1890. Mars Motorcycles of 1921 were fitted with a 986cc Maybach boxer twin.

The Maybach company is often credited with the invention of the carburetor, but Bánki and Csonka are acknowledged by several German institutions as the primary source.
