Antonio Cácharo 1, born in Tarragona in 1896, ran Talleres Cácharo at Dos de Mayo 65, Poble Nou, Barcelona. The workshop, which repaired automobiles and motorcycles, built a racing motorcycle in 1917 powered by a 786cc (75 x 89mm, 6hp V-twin engine ) with belt drive and was also raced as a sidecar combination. Later he built a 482cc single which was also raced, appearing in 1921 events and likely others. It is unclear how many motorcycles were produced.

Cacharo later built and raced Ursus automobiles. He has descendants in Argentina.

A SPANISH MOTOR CYCLE.

A SPANISH reader who is a motor mechanic, and has served with the Hispano-Suiza and other important motor firms in Spain, evidently is not content to import "foreign" motor cycles, and has completed a single-cylinder motor cycle, which has attained a speed of 64 m.p.h.

This engine has a bore and stroke of 85 mm., overhead valves, and is fitted with the builder's own carburetter, which, like the machine, he is calling the Cacharo, his own name.

A cone clutch and expanding pulley gear are operated by a long lever on American lines.

Senor Cacharo also built a two-cylinder machine with a 760 c.c. engine about two years ago, which, the designer claims, was the first motor cycle to be constructed in Spain.

Spain is rapidly coming to the fore as a motor cycling country, and, taken generally, the Spaniard is a keen sportsman, as witness the motor cycle events frequenlly reported in The Motor Cycle.
