Feru Mopeds
Built in Zurich-Seebach, Switzerland, early 1960s, by Ferdinand Ruppnig who began a bicycle workshop in 1941. From 1952 to 1955 he was based at Birchstrasse 132 before moving to Ausserdorfstrasse 33 in Zurich-Seebach. Around 1000 mopeds were constructed.
From 1949 to 1963 Ruppnig was heavily involved with cycling sport. He and his team achieved more than 100 victories in road, track and cross-country bicycle races.
Along with Feru bicycles and autocycles he also marketed Vespa, Horex and Alpino machines. As part of his advertising campaign he displayed a giant Vespa scooter, some 2.5 metres tall, built for the firm by Piaggio.
Ferdinand Ruppnig died on October 25, 1997.
