Austria Alpha Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque

Made in Austria 1932-1952

Josef Illichman founded his machinery firm in 1933 in Vienna 16, Hasnerstraße.

He raced 250cc four-stroke V-twin machines of his own design between 1933 and 1935. Subsequent to the war he built rather neat Puch and ILO-engined machines, as well as manufacturing quality front and rear suspension components.

Models include:

  • Austria-Alpha 250cc 1950-1954
248cc split-single twostroke engine by Puch.
Komet 250cc JLO Twin - 8 were built, one survives.
