This example is one of approximately 8 surviving Lincoln Elks, and has been in one family ownership for over 40 years. It features a leather drive belt, no clutch, oil circulation by hand pump and cycle type pedals to start the machine - they were also used to provide light assistance when required. The owner describes the brakes as able to make a warm smell but do little to slow progress. A cycle type front caliper brake acts on the rim, whilst a foot operated contracting pad rubs on the rear drive rim. ~ Lakeland Motor
