Debenham Sisters
Betty and Nancy Debenham, with their dog, Poncho, were keen motorcyclists. Nancy won a Gold Medal at Brooklands in 1926.
The Debenham Sisters
Empire was a motorcycle produced in 1912, in London, by a foundry firm.
They built an experimental 1hp engine with a slide valve that was moved by a slipper that ran in eccentric grooves cut in the overhung crankshaft. Although they intended to offer 2¼ hp and 3½ hp machines, nothing came of the idea.
