The company had been established in 1872 to make sewing and knitting machines, and they began manufacturing bicycles the late 1890s. In 1903 production of motorcycles commenced using 2hp Minerva and 3hp Fafnir engines fitted to bicycle frames. These belt driven machines were most likely fitted with a 'trembler box' ignition system, and had unbraced bicycle forks.
The period illustration shows a machine very similar to the 1903 Royal George, which is listed as having a Minerva engine.
A book on the marque has been written by John Warburton, Rothwell of Oldham, which covers sewing machines, bicycles, motorcycles, automobiles and commercial vehicles.
