Tailwind was a motorcycle attachment produced in 1952, and built by a Mr A. Latta, of Berkhamstead in Hertfordshire.
This was a 49cc two-stroke engine that fitted above the front wheel of a bicycle, which it drove by friction roller. An unusual feature was that that the engine had two speeds, achieved by fitting a two-diameter drive roller and a means of shifting the complete assembly sideways to select the ratios.
Although it worked well, the moped era was fast approaching, so it never reached production.
