Iruña Scooters

Manufactured by Industria Metálicas de Navarra SA 1953-1961

Félix Huarte, who had previously built the Husor in partnership with Soriano, went on to create the Iruña scooter fitted with a 123cc Hispano Villiers two-stroke engine.

The new scooter was developed by Luis Alonso of Barcelona who had previously supplied components for the Husor, along with his friend Alfonso Vidosa who was working at OSSA, and both had moved to Pamplona for the project.

The machines were available in a red and maroon two-tone, and a semi-metallic brown. The weighed 90 kg, and could attain 65-70 km/h.

Around 1,000 scooters were built, but sales were slow due to the enormous competition from the Italians - in 1954 both Vespa and Lambretta had established Spanish factories, and there was just no chance for the fledling Pamplona firm. Some 400 machines were sold. The remainder were destroyed.
