Villalbi Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque

The Villalbi was the first motorcycle built in Spain. Miquel Villalbí developed a prototype in 1903 which underwent tests before he went on to build and sell five more, two of which have survived and are in the collections of Spanish museums in Barcelona and Terrassa.

As there was no source for components, Villalbí built everything himself; the engine, carburettor, frame and even the tyres.

The engine has a capacity of 429cc (78 x 90 mm) with an automatic inlet valve.

NB. The name of the marque is spelled both Villalbí and Villalví.
