BMW R-42 500cc 1926-1928

The R 42 was the touring version with a 500cc sidevalve engine with developed 12 h.p. The frame and suspension remained almost entirely unchanged from the previous model, but the rear brake mounted on the drive shaft was a new feature. Sales of the new model more than doubled largely due to a price reduction of 30 per cent.

BMW also offered a sports model with overhead valves, the R 47 .
