ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Rob Saward was born and educated in Tasmania, completing a degree in engineering (mechanical) at the University of Tasmania in 1979. He grew up in a family with strong motoring and motorcycling influences, and really had no choice but to be an enthusiast. In his childhood years there was always an old motorcycle or two around, which later led to a strong interest in both two and four-wheeled competition. On moving to Victoria in 1980 to work in the motor industry he joined the Vintage Motor Cycle Club of Victoria and became editor of Exhaust Notes, the Club journal. This created an interest in early Australian motorcycle history, which further developed into the research that resulted in this book.
His interest in reading and collecting motorcycle and motor racing literature became his business in 1994, when he became a dealer in motoring literature. He is currently the President of the VMCCV. and a keen participant in club events on a variety of veteran and vintage machines.
