A Brief History of the Marque
Made in Austria 1905
Very little is known of this machine other than that it was built in small numbers by a company described as manufacturing "bamboo bicycles".
The single-cylinder four-stroke engine was installed in a steel frame, with power transmitted by flat-belt.
The engine is by "MM". The engine bears no resemblance to the American MM singles of the day; the NSU of 1905 has much in common, but differs substantially in cylinder head layout.
Terry Parker writes of a 1905 NSU which he restored and rode that it has a "similar layout but the MM beehive barrel held on by two huge nuts is very different."

1. An authoritative Austrian site previously stated that the engine was from the British firm "MMC". That reference has since been removed (2026).
2. The marque is referred to by some as "Carinthio". This is an error.
