Kratmo, Student and Famolette
Kratmo
Bicycle engines manufactured by Walter Kratzsch of Gößnitz, Thuringia, from 1948 to c.1952. Several versions were built with roller transmission and with chain final drive.
The Kratmo 35 FM mounted adjacent to the rear axle on the left, with the fuel tank below a rack above the rear mudguard. Model 40 FM (40cc) mounted above the pedal crank, with the fuel tank and toolbox below the top frame rail. The Kratmo 50 was a conventional moped engine.

Kratzsch Hilfsmotor
Bernhard-Hellmuth Kratzsch of the DDR offered plans for auxiliary bicycle engines in the early 1950s. These were for training purposes, and were issued under the names Student, Famolette and others. They were air-cooled two-strokes mounted above the front wheel.
Limited numbers of the Student hilfsmotor were built by VEB Metallwarenfabrik Zella-Mehli, but it did not enter production.
