The Arcore is named for the small town east of Milan which is home to Moto Gilera. It was also home to controversial media magnate and politician, Silvio Berlusconi.
The 5V Arcore had numerous updates to the engine, drive train and chassis. The 125cc version had better sales as it could be ridden by 16 year-olds.
The engine is a single-cylinder 4-stroke inclined forward at 15°, with head and cylinder in light alloy and cast iron liner. Distribution is via overhead valves controlled by rods and rocker arms. The gearbox is 5 speed. The frame is of steel tubing with a double cradle closed at the bottom, with teleraulic fork and swing-arm rear suspension with dual hydraulic shock absorbers. The brakes are drum, the colors were red and light blue.
