A Brief History of the Marque

Sherco is a French and Spanish motorcycle manufacturer, specialising in off-road motorcycles.

Sherco Moto SARL was founded in 1998 by Marc Teissier, who was also one of the founders of Scorpa. The brand was initially Bultaco Sherco as Teissier had purchased the rights to the Bultaco marque. The factory was at Caldes de Montbui, some 30 km north of Barcelona.

The firm did very well, and in order to extend its manufacturing capacity bought the French (previously Italian) HRD concern in Nimes, France. This became the company headquarters, although some 70% of production occurred in Spain.

Sherco are best known for their very popular trials bikes, and they also make enduro and supermoto machines along with 50cc junior off-road motorcycles.
