Rex-OEC 1370cc JAP two wheel drive

Designed and built by Berthold Ericsson and Einar Stormark the 1935 motorcycle has front-wheel drive. The JAP engine from J.A.Prestwick & Co of Tottenham, London, originally 1000 cc (88mm x 86mm), was modified and bored to 1370cc and develops approximately 85-90 hp at 5000 rpm running on methanol.

The machine is fitted with an Amal dual-float carburettor and a Bosch magneto. The frame and wheels are from OEC and it is fitted with a Norton rear wheel. The three speed gearbox delivers power via chain to the rear wheel, and a secondary drive fitted above the gearbox delivers power via two chains to the front wheel. The transfer mechanism is attached to the USD front forks below the steering head.

It entered some 10 races that year and won most of them, taking the Swedish Championship.
