Manufactured in 1905 by H. H. Whale of Firefly Cycle Works. H. Hulford Whale was a cycle builder from c.1905 to 1932 in Burwood and Petersham. The motorcycle was fitted with a 2¾ h. p. Sarolea engine.

Whale finished the race but was well down in the points table.
There appears to be some relationship with the Mumford marque and Krambach, a tiny village near Nabiac NSW. The village has a large area nearby called "Firefly", and lies on a river of that name.
