A Brief History of the Marque
The company was founded by Alfred Jockisch around 1920. The registered business name in the city archives of Leipzig list the company as 'Alfred Jokisch Fahrzeugbau Gmbh' and was also known as 'Juwel-Leipzig'.
Juwel was influential pioneering the torpedo-shape, and in 1940 was granted a patent for a pendulum sidecar. It was his final year of production.
Many types of of sidecar bodies and chassis were offered, most of them suitable for large-capacity motorcycles designed for sidecar useage.
These heavy sidecars featured excellent suspension systems including, on some models, adjustable shock absorbers. One of the more interesting models was a side-by-side two-seater with a comparatively light weight of 60 kg. These were used by the Hellenic Gendarmerie from 1938 until 1940.
