Jonas Øglænd
Founded in Sandnes, Norway, ±1868 as a general store, the firm began importing bicycles from Germany and the United States in the 1890s and established a bicycle workshop and later a factory where he assembled bicycles branded "The World". They became the largest producer of bicycles in Norway. The DBS bicycle brand was introduced in 1932.
Production of Tempo Handy motorised bicycles began in 1951 using a Sachs 49ccc engine. In 1957 mopeds with rear suspension appeared (the Comfort and Swing - the latter with leading link from suspension). The Corvette model was introduced in 1960.
Production continued until 1993. The mopeds were also produced under licence in Portugal, where versions of the Tempo moped were manufactured from the early 1980s until 1994.
Øglænd mopeds were sold under the name DBS in Sweden. DBS was one of the brands they used on the bicycles sold in Norway.
