Echasa Motorcycles

Founded by Jose Echabe (1870-1965) before the Great War, Echave, Arizmendo y Cía, S.A. produced small arms from 1914 before beginning the manufacture of Fénix bicycles after the Spanish Civil War, to which were added auxilliary engines.

In the early 1950s they produced motorised bicycles using Iresa two-speed 49cc and 53cc two-stroke engines. A licence from Iresa was obtained and they subsequently built their own Echasa engines, modified and enlarged to 65cc, with a 3-speed gearbox. This was the Model A, and the Model B followed in 1956 with the same engine but many refinements. These were joined by a 49cc Junior shortly thereafter due to changes in licencing laws for younger riders.

Production ceased in 1962.
