Classic Spagthorpe: Aidi

600 cc inline supercharged W3 designed to challenge the German DKW inline transverse supercharged three cylinder. Though it was earlier thought that no Aidi ever actually left the factory due to the unresolved overheating issue, it has been confirmed that a modified Aidi with water cooling via an ingenious set of radiator panniers was campaigned by none other than Chien De L’Atalas in the great London–Paris speed trial debacle of 1931. Like all the entrants the entry DNF, though it was alleged that De L’Atalas actually survived the explosion as no personal effects were ever found.
