A Brief History of the Marque

Manufactured: 1950-1958 1

Founded in 1950 in Reggio Emilia near Milan by a group of technicians previously of Motom, the Società Italiana Motori built 3-speed 48cc four-stroke Pegaso mopeds with pressed metal frames.

Their first scooter, powered by a Puch engine, was the SIM Moretti 125 scooter presented at the Milan Motosalone in December 1950.

In 1953 or 1954, an Ariete unfaired scooter was offered. In 1958 new models were introduced, the T, the GT, the TV and the most powerful, an S model of 3hp.

Guiller built SIM scooters under licence in France in from 1951, fitted with AMC engines and somewhat different in appearance.
