J. & H. Gerkinet formed an agreement with Harley Davidson to launch a range of lightweights for the French market. Initially they used engines from Zurcher and Train before coming to an arrangement with Puch in 1925 for the supply of 175 engines and complete motorcycles. The "Harlette-Puch" remained in the French range until 1927. The Harlette proved popular in Italy, where they were imported by the Lucca Landucci-Orlandi dealership.
