Rovin Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque
132 rue de Silly

From 1920 to 1934 Raoul Pegulu de Rovin built motorcycles powered by Train, JAP, Velocette, Rovin and MAG engines in capacities of 98cc to 499cc, including two-strokes, ohv and sidevalve engines. He purchased the Sans-Sou-Pap motorcycle factory in 1928, and also built three-wheelers and, after 1945 with his brother Robert de Rovin, small cars. Raoul raced aircraft, flying a Potez 36 in the second Tour de France des avions de tourisme (1932), and also raced Delage automobiles.

Rovin motorcycles had considerable success in competition, with 15 world records in the 75cc to 175cc classes, 8 wins in the Bol d'Or, 7 victories in the Tour de France and many more besides.

Roaul died in Paris in 1949 at the age of 53. Not a long life, but certainly a full one.
