This well-preserved and authentic 1914 FN Single was discovered in Belgium around 1970 by the late Dr Helmut Krackowizer, a widely renowned writer, enthusiast, and historian. The FN marque specialist in the UK believes that it dates from 1914 and the imprinted ‘Vien’ markings on its tool box suggest that it spent at least some of its life in Vienna. It was acquired for a notable Austrian motorcycle collection in 1986, underwent a restoration and was put on display in the Vienna Museum. Attractive features include the nickel plated front forks, a period, spring-mounted front lamp, oil cans mounted on the rear mudguard and front and rear stands. A rare feature is the "town and country" exhaust that allows more performance and a little extra noise when out of town.

It was acquired for the NZ Classic Motorcycles collection via an auction in Carmel, California, in May, 2008.
