OSSA TR80, "La Amarilla"

Who was going to tell me that after 20 years I was going to have a “Yellow” OSSA, one of the most attractive motorcycles that has come out of the legendary Spanish factories. I had always practiced the all-terrain (when possible) through the Madrid mountains, with the now classic ones. When one day, in a Trial in Pelayos de la Presa, I saw our protagonist, I was amazed and thought of changing to trial, but it could not be, since I always shared the bikes with my brothers, and their spirit was more towards the "fat tacos".

I had known Juan Carlos Ramírez from MOTOCRA for some time, who had tried several times to get me into the restoration and classic Spanish motorcycle bug. One day he appeared and told me "Agus I have an OSSA TR-80, the yellow one, to restore, if you want it it's yours." I didn't think about it for a moment, I told him that I would keep it, here began a story in which I enjoyed and suffered like a dwarf.

The motorcycle in appearance was very battered, broken suspensions, fibers and broken tank, absence of air filter and intermediate exhaust, moped headlight, chassis with a crack, slashed tires, etc... The only thing that seemed to be something decent and that Juan Carlos had checked was the engine, the rest in the photos you can't appreciate how bad it was.

I started to strip the motorcycle at my brothers-in-law's house (the poor guys didn't know where they were going) and little by little I began to realize the investment and rides that I was going to have to give myself, to get the project up and running. With the help of Juan Carlos, I found some components that I was missing, such as the rear shock absorbers, headlight, intermediate exhaust, air filter... up to 50 “little things”.

I knew that in the "Yellow" the issue of painting and restoration of the deposit was very important, so it was essential to put yourself in the hands of a professional, not only serious like ARTENRUTA, he also had to be fast, I was very excited to be there! present at the II concentration of field classics organized by the MotoCRA Club and there were only three months left. The work was perfect and the colour 100% and of course, on time.

I chromed all the pieces that required it, I knew that they were an element that was going to give the bike a better look. I disassembled the engine, crankcases, cylinder, cylinder head and I went over them with great care, painting them personally as well as all the elements in black, I won't tell you what oven I put them in.

Finally, after three months I started to assemble the motorcycle, seeing the evolution was most gratifying, I made the electrical installation new, the screws, the one I could clean up and the rest I changed. Everything was going perfect until I got to the mounting of the fork, a Telesco, it was much more damaged than it seemed at first glance, the Teflon of the bar had come off and it had worn the inside of one of the bottles, my good friend and good mechanic José from MOTOSPORT in Villalba solved my problem brilliantly.
