1899 Johann Puch founds Johann Puch - Erste Steiermärkische Fahrrad-Fabriks-Aktiengesellschaft (First Styrian Bicycle Factory, Inc.).
1903 The first motorcycle, Puch Model A, was presented. In 1905 a V-twin of 610cc appeared.
1908 Kolobri bicycle attachment engine released, and proved very popular.
1912 Johann Puch retired as CEO, taking on the role of company president. The company at that time had some 1,100 staff with an annual output of 16,000 bicycles and 300 automobiles and motorcycles.
Puch entered the IOM TT.
1914 Johann Puch - Erste Steiermärkische Fahrrad-Fabriks AG changes its name to PUCHWERKE AG.
1914-1918 Major supplier to the Austro-Hungarian military forces.
Post WWI, production faltered.
1922 Italian engineer Giovanni Marcellino joined the company and designed a new 2-stroke engine based on a Garelli patent. This entered production the following year as the Model LM.. In 1925 a 175cc appeared, followed by a 220cc machine, and in 1926 the first saddle-tank motorcycle left the assembly line.
1928 March 31: The Österreichische Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft shareholders' meeting approves merger with Österreichischen Flugzeugfabrik AG, the Austro Daimler bodywork plant and with Puchwerke AG.
1928 December 28: The new company, Austro Daimler Puchwerke Aktiengesellschaft, is entered in the Vienna register of companies.
1931 Puch wins the German Grand Prix.
1934 Steyr-Werke AG shareholders' meeting approves merger with Austro Daimler Puchwerke Aktiengesellschaft.
1935 The new Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG is entered in the Vienna register of companies.
