The Douglas 349cc Model CW has a 349cc side-valve engine with external flywheel and magneto ignition, and a three-speed gearbox with the gear change mounted above the tank.

The barrel and cylinder head are a single cast-iron unit, the front and rear not interchangeable and the valves and coil springs
are exposed.

This model has chain final drive and also chain primary, and what appears to be a belt rim on the rear wheel is actually the brake. It has a similar rim brake on the front wheel.
